Meet the Team

Bill Burnett - Stanford University

Bill’s now working on his third book. The first two, Designing Your Life: How To Build a Well-lived Joyful Life, came from working with students at Stanford University. His second book, Designing Your Life: How To Thrive & Change, was for people more mid-career. Our firm approached Bill about applying those techniques to people in their 50s, 60s, and 70s, and focusing on the mature life.

World-class life designer, Stanford educator, Executive Director of the Life Design Lab at Stanford, and Managing Director of the Life Design Institute (Singapore). In order to create meaningful paths forward for those in the mature stages of life, Bill was the perfect collaborator to create Designing What’s Next and Personal R&D.It was important to create something that went way beyond just doing personal research. It had to develop into something lasting for people as well. A lot of people take programs, read books, go on retreats, etc., but where most fall down is in applying those theories to make real change in their lives in order to develop what they really want. That is a big difference in what Bill brings in terms of results, and why it underpins everything we do here in Designing What’s Next and Personal Strategic Design.
